TerraGate
TerraGate
TerraGate is a powerful network data server technology designed to stream 3D geographic data in real-time.
TerraGate is designed to deliver Skyline digital earth data to thousands of clients simultaneously. TerraGate provides the platform for launching the many applications created using Terra development and editing tools. In conjunction with TerraBuilder, TerraDeveloper, and TerraExplorer Pro, TerraGate makes the digital earth accessible, and enables a geo-referenced backdrop for web-based applications.
TerraGate differs significantly from video streaming technology in that it works seamlessly across variable bandwidths on the Internet and is not affected by latency or breaks in connectivity. Once the initial scene has bee received in low-resolution, the user is able to begin accessing the 3D environment without waiting for entire frames of data to display. This breakthrough technology displays seamless 3D graphics for a smoother and more useful user experience.
The TerraGate client-server model has been optimized to handle thousands of concurrent users accessing virtually unlimited sized databases in low to high- bandwidth situations, giving each user uninterrupted viewing.
The TerraGate technology is infinitely scalable, allowing multiple servers physically located in different places to simultaneously stream vast 3D databases while automatically sharing the load. In multi-processor environments, TerraGate will automatically share the load between all available processors.
